Abilities honed by great martial warriors surge through the annals of history and most often appear in the form of a technique.
This page provides the rules for executing a technique. Different character classes have distinctive ways of learning and preparing their techniques, and monsters may use techniques in unique ways. Regardless of its source, a technique follows the rules here.
What is a Technique? #

Technique Magnitude #
- Every technique has a magnitude from 1 to 4. A technique’s magnitude is a general indicator of how powerful it is, with the lowly (but still impressive) cleave at a 1st magnitude and the incredible Eschaton at 4th. The higher a techniques magnitude, the higher level a martial must be to use that technique.
- Technique magnitude and character level don’t correspond directly. Typically, a character has to be at least 16th level, not 4th level, to execute a 4th-magnitude technique.
